A 52-year-old female patient suffering from colon B cancer underwent anus-preserving operation with nickel-titanium alloy pressure anastomotic ring (CAR) technique in a cancer hospital. After 10 days of recovery treatment, on November 22, the CAR in her body fell off smoothly and was discharged from the body. This marks the success of the world's latest anastomotic technique in clinical application. According to a full-text search in Chinese and English, there is only one clinical report about the above-mentioned operation in the world. It is also the first case of NiTi alloy pressure anastomosis ring technology applied in this kind of operation in Asia.

It is reported that colorectal cancer is the most prognostic and even curable cancer in gastrointestinal malignant tumors, and the application of new technologies and clinical norms can improve the treatment effect and quality of life of patients. But in the past 30 years, the incidence of colorectal cancer in Shanghai has risen from the seventh to the second. In 2006, the incidence of male colorectal cancer reached 475/100,000, which has become diseases that seriously threaten people's health. At present, surgery is still the first choice for the treatment of colorectal cancer. There are three types of gastrointestinal anastomosis in operation: namely manual suture, metal nail anastomosis and pressure anastomosis. Nowadays, gastrointestinal anastomosis is widely used at home and abroad, i.e. the intestinal serosa is anastomosed with metal nails. However, because metal nails always remain on the anastomotic mucosa of patients, it leads to poor anastomotic extension, fistula, hemorrhage and other complications, which make the patients painful. At the same time, because the anastomotic stomotic stoma is exposed to the intestinal cavity and excreta, it is easy to cause infection and hand infection. The quality of operation decreased.
Nickel-titanium alloy is a shape memory alloy, which can automatically restore its plastic deformation to the original shape at a specific temperature. Its expansion rate is over 20%, fatigue life is 107 times, damping property is 10 times higher than ordinary springs, and its corrosion resistance is better than the best medical stainless steel at present. Through compression, ischemia, necrosis and final detachment of intestinal mucosa by CAR technique. Because the whole process occurs in the pressure anastomotic ring of nickel-titanium alloy, the anastomotic bleeding is prevented; and because the repair process of the anastomotic mucosa is carried out in a sterile state, the excreta in the intestinal cavity only touches the alloy ring and is isolated from the anastomotic stomotic, which can effectively reduce the occurrence of infection. Furthermore, because the anastomosis is seamlessly butted on both sides of the intestine, and there is no anastomotic nail or anastomotic line in the middle, the anastomotic stoma will not cause inflammation due to contact with foreign bodies.
